So much media coverage last week was dedicated to reflecting on the life of the late Steve Jobs, who co-founded Apple Inc. in the late 1970s. And rightly so. The products he designed changed the way we live and interact with each other in a major way. Jobs thought differently than many CEOs in that he was always conscious of user experience with his products and he genuinely wanted to make people’s lives simpler and better, not just sell toys. In the end, isn’t that what it’s all about? Here is an article on Jobs from Entrepreneur that points to why he was successful. Not surprisingly, many of the rules of success they throw out can be applied to great marketing strategy – making connections, mastering the message, creating new experiences, etc.
So here’s to you, Steve Jobs, for reminding us what a clear vision can do for a company and for the world. And if we need any more marketing advice now that you’re gone, well, there’s probably an app for that.
