Some of us at MBM recently attended the AMA luncheon, featuring Todd “Parney” Parnell, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Nutzy! Parney recapped what marketing and advertising avenues they pursued for the 2010 innaugural season. I thought it was interesting that the creation of Nutzy was really the driving force behind the Squirrels brand, and Nutzy appeared at community events all over the city to get Richmond excited about baseball. It will be exciting to see what changes are made next year as far as sponsorships, advertising, themes and programs they put together for fans. Maybe a Nutzy look alike contest? You never know!
